HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a scoreless first half, Brown tallied the lone goal in the 37th minute of action (36:04). O'Donnell dribbled down the right side of the field and lofted a shot from the base line that slipped by Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Kat Matchett (Maple Glen, Pa.) to put the Bears ahead 1-0.
  • Holy Cross put on the pressure late in the second half in an effort to tie the game. In the 56th minute, Crusader junior defender Haley Makuch (Granby, Conn.) ripped a shot on net off a penalty corner, but it was blocked by the Brown backline.
  • In the 65th minute, the Crusaders put together its best offensive barrage of the game. Freshman forward Maureen Connolly (New Canaan, Conn.) had the first shot on goal that was kicked away by Brown goalkeeper Shannon McSweeney. After a Makuch shot was blocked, Holy Cross junior forward Katy Cronin (Franklin, Mass.) ripped back-to-back shots on target, but McSweeney made both saves.
