The Lead: The Holy Cross men's swimming and diving team took on Lehigh for its first Patriot League matchup of the 2014-2015 season as Lehigh defeated the Crusaders 162-127 on Sunday afternoon at the Hart Center. Freshman Jake Sbarbaro (Lakewood, Colo.) led the Crusaders with two second place finishes in the 50 and 100 free and a first place finish in the 100 fly. Sbarbaro posted times of 5:05.52 in the 50 free, 49.10 in the 100 free and 53.46 in the 100 fly.

• The 200 yard freestyle relay team comprised of junior Tyler Wright (Waterboro, Maine), sophomore Alex Young (Natick, Mass.), freshman Geneth Chin (South Winston, Conn.) and Thomas Horigan (West Hartford, Conn.) took first with a time of 1:26.99.
• In the 1,000 free, freshman John Williams (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) touched the wall in third place with a time of 11:42.39 with Chin following in fourth (12:01.12) and classmate Mark Mueller (Weymouth, Mass.) taking fifth (12:08.39).
• Junior David Mullany (Monroe, Conn.) led the way in the 200 free in fourth place (1:55.48) with senior captain Michael Noone (Stamford, Conn.) coming behind in fifth (1:59.28) and junior Max Kearns (Marion, Mass.) following in sixth (2:00.37).
• Senior Walker Lahr (Monticello, Minn.) touched the wall in fourth in the 50 yard backstroke (27.48) as Horigan followed in fifth (27.69) and freshman Ethan Nightingale (Yarmouth, Maine) taking sixth (28.19).
• In the 50 yard backstroke, senior captain Jack Swain (West Hartford, Conn.) led in fourth place (29.01) with sophomore Andrew Higgins (New Canaan, Conn.) following in fifth (29.28) and junior Jack Finnerty (Yonkers, N.Y.) taking sixth (33.83).
• Following Sbarbaro in the 100 yard butterfly was junior Matthew Bates (South Easton, Mass.) in fifth (1:00.18) and junior A.J. Zarrella (Wickford, R.I.) in sixth (1:00.99).
• Nightingale posted a third place finish in the 50 free at 24.38 with senior Andrew Olivieri (Newark, Del.) came in fourth (22.97) and Williams taking fifth (24.79).
• Sbarbaro led the Crusaders in the 100 free in second and was followed by Young in third (51.72) and Olivieri (53.88) in fourth.
• Wright had a second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (57.66) as freshman Hayden Kucharski (Bloomfield, N.J.) followed in third at 59.28 and Horigan took fourth with a time of 1:01.09.
• Swain touched the wall in second in the 100 free (1:03.19). Higgins followed behind Swain in third place at 1:04.17 as Lahr took fourth (1:06.64).
• Following Sbarbaro in the 500 free was Mullany, coming in third at 5:16.71 with Nightingale touching the wall in fourth with a time of 5:31.44.
• Wright once again led the way for Holy Cross with a second place finish in the 50 yard butterfly (24.66) with Zarella behind him in third (26.35) and Bates coming in fourth at 27.38.
• Kucharski touched the wall first in the 200 IM at 2:06.58. Kearns followed in second with a time of 2:15.07, as Mueller finished in third (2:16.39).
• On the diving side, senior captain Brendan Higgins (Summit, N.J.) took second in the three meter (193.27) and second in the one meter (184.28).
• Junior Rob Chevalier took third in the one meter (171.37) and third in the three meter (144.32). Freshman Nick Chevalier took fourth in the three meter (124.56) and fourth in the one meter (163.05) as classmate Jimmy Nugent placed fifth in the one meter (147.45). 

• The Crusaders return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 25 as they travel to Springfield at 1:00 p.m.
