WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior forward Sommer Ross has been named the Crusader of the Week, for competition from November 16-22. Ross led the Holy Cross women's ice hockey team to a 1-1 record as it opened the season with a pair of games last week.
After being held scoreless in Friday's 2-1 loss to Maine, Ross scored a pair of goals in Saturday's 3-2 victory over the Black Bears. She opened the scoring with 1:41 left in the first period when she tapped in a pass from sophomore forward Carly Beniek to put the Crusaders up 1-0. Ross then scored what turned out to be the game-winner when she broke away for an unassisted, empty-net goal with 1:43 remaining in the third period.
Over the course of her collegiate career, Ross has now totaled six points on five goals and one assist in 54 games played.
The Crusaders (1-1 overall, 1-1 Hockey East) return to action on Friday, Nov. 27, when they play host to New Hampshire at 6:00 p.m.
