Senior Katie Russell of the Holy Cross volleyball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for competition from October 20-26.
Russell started and played in all three matches at setter for the Crusaders this past week. The senior averaged 11.00 assists per set for (132) total assists with 20 digs (1.67 D/S), seven aces, and three kills. She paced the Patriot League in assists (132) and aces (7) while ranking second in assists per set (11.00), and third in aces per set (0.58) for the week ending Oct. 26.
In the 3-1 win against New Haven on Oct. 21, Russell recorded a career-high 65 assists with a personal-best four aces and eight digs. Her 65 assists were the most during a 4-set match in the NCAA in 2025 and a Patriot League high across all matches this year. Russell also moved to 10th place on the program’s all-time assist list following the big performance.
During the five set match at home versus Colgate (Oct. 24), Russell dished out 42 assists with nine digs, a career-high three kills, and a pair of aces and followed that up with 25 assists with three digs and an ace at Army West Point on Oct. 26.
In Patriot League matches, Russell ranks fifth in total assists (265) and assists per set (6.16). She has six 30+ assist showings over the last eight matches.
Holy Cross (7-20, 1-10 PL) returns to action at home on Friday, Oct. 31 to take on Army West Point (15-5, 9-2 PL) at 6 p.m.
