Holy Cross Athletics

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior defender Kyle Martell has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from September 15-21. Martell helped lead the Holy Cross men’s soccer team to a 1-0-1 record in a pair of contests last week. 

During last week’s games against Stonehill (2-1 victory) and Lafayette (0-0 tie), Martell played all 180 minutes for the Crusaders. He was a key part of a defense that allowed just one goal on the week, while holding the opposition to only 20 total shots. Martell also picked up an assist on the goal by sophomore midfielder Thomas Mancuso in the Stonehill game.

On the season, Martell has played in eight games, starting five times and ranking seventh on the squad with 561 minutes played.

Holy Cross (2-3-3 overall, 0-0-2 Patriot League) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, when it plays host to Rhode Island at 6 p.m.
