Holy Cross Athletics

Sophomore right fielder Jack Toomey of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for competition from March 25 to 31. 

Paced by Toomey, the Crusaders cruised to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep over Bucknell on Saturday and Sunday. Holy Cross outscored its opponents 42-17 on the week. 

Toomey hit three home runs — one in each win over Bucknell on the weekend — and doubled once for a slugging percentage of 1.167 across the four contests. He drove in a team-best eight runs, and was hit once and walked four times for an on-base percentage of .500. 

So far this season, Toomey is batting .270 with a team-best five home runs. He is tied for the team lead with 19 RBI.

Holy Cross returns to action on Tuesday, April 2 with a contest against Merrimack. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. in North Andover.
