Moran’s 2,000m steeplechase record highlights women’s track and field performances at Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational

WORCESTER, Mass.-The Holy Cross women's track and field team hosted the second annual Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Hart Track. The Crusaders honored the 2026 senior class as well as the 1985 MAAC Champion Holy Cross cross country team.

Freshman Megan Moran broke the 2,000m steeplechase record with a time of 7:10.09. She surpassed Maura Doherty '24 who clocked a time of 7:20.91 back on Apr. 20, 2024.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

Holy Cross' 4x100m A team, comprised of senior Giavanna Ciaravino, sophomores Abby Desmarais and Danielle DiEsso and freshman Nyla Palmer won with a time of 46.70.
Senior Abby Granrath finished third in the 1,500m with a time of 4:33.83. Kulis also won the long jump with a mark of 5.46m.
Senior Celia Kulis won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.75.
Ciaravino and Desmarais placed first and second in the 100m with times of 12.06 and 12.08 respectively.
Senior Ester Mokonchu finished third in the women's hammer throw with a best mark of 45.07m.
Junior Bridget Sachs won the women's pole vault after clearing 3.66m.
Sophomore Lily DeGeorge won the discus with a best throw of 44.65m.
Junior Gabby Paolella and freshman Maddie Goncalves went 1-2 in the shot put with throws of 12.92m and 12.63m.

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will return to action Saturday, May 2 and compete in the Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern. Holy Cross will also head to Durham, N.C. on Sunday, May 3 to compete in the Duke Twilight Meet.
