Kulis sets heptathlon record in split meet weekend for women’s track and field

The Holy Cross women's track and field competed in three separate meets across this past weekend. Friday, Apr. 10 saw the Crusaders compete in the Friar Invitational at Providence College and day one of the Tufts Spring Invitational. Holy Cross closed out the meet at Tufts on Saturday, Apr. 11 and also took part in the UMass Commonwealth Invitational.

TUFTS SPRING INVITATIONAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Senior Celia Kulis reset  her school record in the heptathlon, scoring 5,024 total points. Finished the 100 hurdles in 13.92, cleared 1.58m in the high jump, threw 11.71m in the shot put, ran the 200 in 25.40, jumped 5.42m in the long jump, threw 32.27m in the javelin, and ran 2:34.85 in the 800m. Her previous record of 5,006 came during the 2025 Patriot League Outdoor Championships at Hart Track.
FRIAR INVITATIONAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS:  UMASS COMMONWEALTH INVITATIONAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Junior Bridget Sachs placed third in the women's pole vault after clearing 3.81m.
  • Freshman Frankie Spagna and sophomore Victoria McGowan placed sixth and seventh in the triple jump with marks of 11.33m and 11.01m.
  • Junior Gabby Paolella and freshman Maddie Goncalves finished fifth and sixth in the shot put with marks of 12.93m and 12.56m.
  • Sophomore Lily Deforge placed second in the discus with a throw of 44.02m.
  • Junior Grace Ryan won the javelin with a mark of 43.27m. Junior Sienna Horn finished fourth with a mark of 34.79m.
  • The Crusaders won the 4x100m relay with a time of 47.48.
  • Ciaravino and Desmarais finished first and third in the 100m with times of 11.78 and 11.96.
UP NEXT: 
  • The Crusaders will host the second annual Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational on Saturday, Apr. 18 at Hart Track.
