The Holy Cross men's basketball team continues its three game homestand against Patriot League foe Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. The contest will be broadcast regionally on NESN, streamed through the NESN 360 app and ESPN+ with Kevin Gehl (play-by-play) and Jacob VanRyn (analyst) on the call.
Saturday is Winter Homecoming Weekend on The Hill and the court inside the Hart Center Arena will be officially dedicated as the Bob Cousy '50 Court in a pregame ceremony. Numerous championship teams will be celebrated during the 125th Anniversary Celebration during the contest.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (8-16, 3-8 PL):
- Holy Cross fell for the sixth straight game falling 72-64 to Patriot League foe Boston University in a nationally-televised contest on CBS Sports Network. Junior guard DeAndre Williams matched a career-high with 20 points while canning a personal-best four three-pointers in the game. Freshman forward Aiden Disu was a beast on the boards corralling a career and game-high 14 rebounds as well.
- Bob Cousy '50, a 1947 national champion as a freshman, competed for the Crusaders from 1946-1950. In his sophomore, junior and senior years he led Holy Cross to two more NCAA Tournaments and garnered All-East and All-America honors in the process. Cousy ranks seventh all-time in program history in points (1,775) and fifth all-time in field goal conversions (709). Following his graduation, Cousy went on to play many years with the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association, helping build the team's dynasty of the 1950s and 1960s. On the Celtics, Cousy won six championships in seven seasons, led the league in assists for eight years straight, and was named NBA Most Valuable Player in 1957. Cousy was inducted into the Holy Cross Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1956 and the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971. His jersey has been retired by both Holy Cross (No. 17 in 2008) and the Celtics (No. 14 in 1963). In 2019, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, for his contributions to American life both on and off the court. Beyond his accomplishments on the hardwood, Cousy was a major and early proponent of diversity in the NBA and was a supporter of his black teammates during the civil rights movement. He has extensively worked with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass. & Metrowest organization for decades, with the "Bob Cousy Assist Program" — founded in 2023 — pairing Holy Cross basketball student-athletes with middle school students from the Nativity School of Worcester in a mentorship role.
- Williams has been on a roll from deep recently going 14-for-25 (56.0 percent) from distance over his last seven games. Across 11 conference games, Williams ranks fourth in the Patriot League in three-point percentage (46.9 percent).
- Disu is 20-for-21 (95.2 percent) over his last seven games from the charity stripe. He is the Crusaders' best free throw shooter during conference action ranking seventh in the league in free throw percentage (86.2).
- Holy Cross is the ninth ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (332nd). They rank 316th (100.8) in offensive rating and 315th (116.7) in defensive rating.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS (10-14, 6-5 PL):
- Lehigh is coming off an 89-84 double-overtime defeat at Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday. Hank Alvey filled the box score with 27 points on 11-of-12 (91.6 percent) shooting with eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals.
- Nasir Whitlock was named Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday. Whitlock averaged 23.5 points on 50.0 percent (16-of-32) shooting and 50.0 percent (7-of-14) shooting deep in a 1-1 week for the Mountain Hawks. Whitlock scored 32 points in the overtime win against Colgate (Jan. 31) which was his sixth 30+ point effort of the season.
- Whitlock ranks 10th in the NCAA in total points (480) this season. He is also 18th in the country in field goal attempts (343).
- Lehigh has played in the most overtime games in the NCAA this season with seven. The Mountain Hawks are 3-4 (.429) in overtime this year.
- The Mountain Hawks are the fifth ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (302nd). They rank 319th (100.7) in offensive rating and 258th (113.0) in defensive rating.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- Holy Cross is 45-34 (.570) in the series history against Lehigh which began back in 1976. The Mountain Hawks have won four straight meetings and 10 of the last 12 contests dating back to the 2019-20 season.
- The Crusaders are 29-13 (.690) against the Mountain Hawks in the Hart Center Arena.
- In their last meeting on Jan. 7, Lehigh earned a 66-58 win in Bethlehem. Gabe Warren scored 15 points for the Crusaders with four boards in the setback.
