WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross field hockey freshmen
Alexa Birch and
Ainsley Clough were named an NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction, the NFHCA announced Friday. The Scholars of Distinction program acknowledges exceptional undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the fall semester. Just 341 student-athletes in Division I earned the honor this season.

Birch, a native of
 Upper Saddle River, N.J., appeared in all 16 games for the Crusaders in her inaugural season. Clough, from New Canaan, Conn., made her collegiate debut against Merrimack.
