Field Hockey announces class of 2030

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross field hockey head coach Kim Cosenza is excited to announce the addition of seven student-athletes that will comprise the class of 2030. The slate of new Crusaders includes Kate Burke, CeCe Honeker, Abby Kent, Marianna MacLean, Julia McCusker, Izzy McElgunn, and Julia Okenquist.
 
Take a closer look at the seven newcomers below:
 
Kate Burke | M | 5-5 | Hingham, Mass. | Notre Dame Academy
  • Played five seasons of varsity field hockey under head coach Abi Sood.
  • Served as a team captain as a senior.
  • Was a 2025 Catholic Conference All-Star, 2025 Boston Globe All-Star, 2025 Patriot Ledger Second Team selection, and 2024 Patriot Ledger First Team selection.
  • Earned the Notre Dame Academy Player of the Award in 2025, and led the team in scoring in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
  • Played club field hockey for True Grit Field Hockey Club under head coach Kathleen Boyle.
  • Helped team qualify for the 2026 National Indoor Tournament and 2024 National Club Championship.
 
CeCe Honeker | M/D | 5-4 | Morristown, N.J. | Oak Knoll School
  • Played three seasons of varsity field hockey at Oak Knoll under head coach Ali Good.
  • Earned a Second Team All-County and Second Team Red Division nods as a junior, and was the top junior goal scorer, top non-public scorer, top assists in non-public, and top points in non-public in New Jersey.
  • Helped team to two State Championships, four Sectional Championships and four County Championships.
  • Finished Oak Knoll career with 33 points on 12 goals and 9 assists.
  • Played club field hockey for New Heights under head coach Ali Good.
  • Helped team qualify for the National Club Championship twice and the National Indoor Tournament four times.
 
Abby Kent | M | 5-8 | Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass. | Manchester Essex Regional
  • Played four seasons of varsity field hockey at Manchester Essex Regional under head coach Courtney Brown.
  • Served as a team captain as a senior, and was named the team's Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior.
  • Was the 2025 Cape Ann League (CAL) Player of the Year, a 2024 and 2025 CAL First Team All-Star, and a 2023 CAL Second Team All-Star.
  • Helped team to four-straight CAL Championships (2022-25) and a 2022 State Finals.
  • Finished career at Manchester Essex Regional with 106 points on 54 goals and 52 assists.
  • Also ran four seasons of winter track and field, serving as a team captain as a junior and senior.
  • Earned the 2024-25 Most Valuable Player Award, the 2023-24 Unsung Hero Award, and the 2022-23 Coaches Award, and helped set the school record in the 4x200m in 2024-25.
  • Played four seasons of varsity lacrosse, serving as a team captain as a senior.
  • Named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2025, and was a CAL First Team All-Star and Gloucester Times All-Star in 2025 and a CAL Second Team All-Star in 2024.
  • Played club field hockey for Seacoast Field Hockey under head coach Steve Danielson.
 
Marianna MacLean | F | 5-3 | Edinburgh, Scotland | Fettes College
  • Played four seasons of varsity field hockey at Fettes College under head coach Rebecca Mill.
  • Captained the first team in the 2025-26 season, earning Player of the Season honors.
  • Led the team in scoring in 2024-25 with 12 goals.
  • Helped team to a Scottish U18 Girls Plate championship in 2023-24.
  • Represented Scotland at the U16, U18, and U21 levels, achieving over 50 junior caps. 
  • Earned a silver medal at the U18 European B Division Championships and won the Challenger Trophy at the U21 Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile.
  • Was the Most Valuable Player against New Zealand at the U21 Junior World Cup, Poland at the U18 European B Division Championship, and Switzerland at the U18 Four Nations.
  • Also played lacrosse Fettes College, helping team to a National Lacrosse Division 2 Championship in 2024 and three U18 Scottish Schools Championships (2023-26).
  • Holds the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m school records for Fettes College track, and competed with the Edinburgh Athletics Club in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, 4x200m, and long jump.
  • Played club field hockey with the Edinburgh Grange Ladies of the Scottish Women's Premiership under heaad coach Sean Hadfield.
  • Helped team to a 2023 U18 Girls Club Cup Championship, 2022 and 2024 U16 Club Cup Championship, and the 2023 Ladies National Plate Finals.
     
Julia McCusker | M | 5-5 | North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada | Windsor Secondary
  • Played five seasons of varsity field hockey at Windsor Secondary under head coach Darell Sharpe.
  • Served as a team captain as a junior and senior.
  • Was a three-time Vancouver North Shore All-Star selection (2023-2025).
  • Helped team to the 2021 Vancouver North Shore AA Banner championship.
  • Played premier club for Sea to Sky FHC under head coach Kyle Marks.
  • Helped team to club championships in 2022 and 2023.
  • Also played for Team British Columbia under head coaches Bubli Chohan and Kyle Marks.
  • Helped team to three-straight Canadian National Championships (2023-2025). 
  • Competed with the U18 Canadian Junior National Team in the game series against France U18 (May 2025) and Poland U18 (April 2026).
 
Izzy McElgunn | D | 5-7 | North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada | Collingwood School
  • Played three seasons of varsity field hockey at the Collingwood School under head coach Catherine Underwood.
  • Served as a team captain as a senior.
  • Helped team to a BC School Sports AAA bronze medal in 2025, a BC School Sports AA silver medal in 2024, and a BC School Sports AA bronze medal in 2023.
  • Also helped team to a Sea to Sky Zone AA second place finish in 2024, North Schore AA Championships in 2023 and 2024, a Sea to Sky Zone AA Championship in 2023, four BC Independent School Championships (2022-2025), and three Friendship Cup Championships (2023-2025).
  • Was named a North Schore AAA All-Star and BC Independent School Tournament Most Valuable Player in 2025 and a North Schore AA All-Star in 2024.
  • Played for the Canada U18 Women's National Team that traveled to Wales (2025) and Poland (2026) for the NextGen Tour.
  • Was the captain for Team British Columbia U16 that won bronze at the 2024 Canadian National Championship, and assistant captain for Team British Columbia U18 that won gold at the 2025 Canadian National Championship.
  • Also played club field hockey for the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club under head coach Matt Sarmento.
  • Trained at the Rob Short Coaching Academy under head coach Rob Short.
  • Helped team to a second place finish in U19 pool C at the 2024 Shooting Star Thanksgiving tournament, captained the silver medal winning U16 team at the 2024 Cal Cup, and helped the U16 team to a gold medal finish at the 2023 Cal Cup.

Julia Okenquist | GK | 5-8 | Uxbridge, Mass. | Uxbridge
  • Played five seasons of varsity field hockey at Uxbridge under head coach Kelly Rosborough.
  • Served as a team captain as a senior.
  • Earned the team's Sportsmanship Award as a junior.
  • Was a CMAC A All-Conference selection as a senior, a All-SWCL First Team selection as a sophomore and junior, and played in the Best of 60 Seniors Game.
  • Also earned a T&G Hometown All-Star Honorable Mention as a sophomore and junior, was named to the NFHCA High School All-Region Second Team and the NFHCA Rising Sophomore Squad as a sophomore, and to the NFHCA High School Players Watch List as a junior and senior.
  • Helped Uxbridge to four-straight D4 Massachusetts State Championship victories (2021-2024) and a D3 Massachusetts State Championship in 2025, as well as the Girls Team of the Year in Central Mass title in 2024.
  • Finished Uxbridge career with the school record for most shutouts in a season with 17, and tallied 64 total in her career.
  • Played club field hockey for Cape Ann FHC under head coach Chris Pothier.
  • Was a three-time NexUS Championship selection (2023-2025), a 2023 Junior Olympics Selection, and was invited to the 2025 USA National Team Selection Camp.
