Baseball announces coaching staff additions ahead of Opening Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – Two-time Gene Depew Patriot League Coach of the Year Ed Kahovec has announced the additions of Jack Hawke and Bobby Bordieri to the staff for the 2026 campaign.

"Adding Jack and Bobby to our coaching staff is a huge win for our program," Kahovec said. "They are experienced coaches that have enjoyed success at different levels of college baseball. In addition to their impressive resumes, they are known for their player development, recruiting acumen, and strong character. Their ability to hit the ground running at a high level will be beneficial for our student-athletes."

Hawke spent three seasons (2023-25) as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a member of the 2025 NEWMAC Coaching Staff of the Year. He helped the Engineers reach the NEWMAC Championship and coached five players who earned All-New England honors in 2025. In October 2025, Hawke was named the North Shore Navigators (New England Collegiate Baseball League) Field Manager for 2026 after spending 2025 as an assistant coach. During his first summer with the Navigators, Hawke served as North Shore's hitting and first-base coach, helping to mentor two NECBL All-Star position players.

Before MIT, Hawke was a volunteer assistant coach at nearby Harvard University in 2022. The Crimson won 19 games, beating a pair of "Power Five" opponents Miami and UCLA. Five All-Ivy honorees contributed to the Harvard team during Hawke's year in the dugout.

Hawke has also been an assistant coach at three other NCAA programs: Vassar College (2021), Post University (2020) and his alma mater, Bard College (2018-19), where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. A 2017 Bard graduate, he was a four-year starting outfielder and three-year captain on the baseball team playing three seasons during Kahovec's stint at Bard.

Hawke is responsible for developing hitters, baserunners and outfielders, as well as overall practice planning for the Crusaders.

Bordieri joins the Crusaders' staff following two seasons as an assistant coach at Hofstra (2024, 2025) helping lead the Pride to the 2024 CAA Championship.

Before Hofstra, Bordieri spent a season with Siena (2023) serving as hitting coach and helping the Saints post its best offensive season since 2018. In addition to his work with the Siena offense, Bordieri was primarily responsible for outfield defense but also coached infield and catchers. He also helped oversee recruiting efforts, directed prospect, team, and youth camps, and created opponent scouting reports.

Prior to joining the staff at Siena, Bordieri spent the previous two seasons as the lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division III Roger Williams University. During his time in Rhode Island, he helped guide the Hawks to a stellar 47-21-2 (.686) overall record including a 21-10-1 (.672) mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, while coaching nine all-region and 16 all-conference honorees. In 2022, Bordieri helped Roger Williams to a 27-11-2 mark and a national ranking as high as No. 21 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll.

Bordieri broke into the collegiate coaching ranks during the 2020 season as a volunteer assistant at Division III Westfield State University, where he worked with the hitters, outfielders, and assisted in player development. During the 2020 fall season, he served as a graduate assistant at NAIA Keiser University. Bordieri has also coached with the L&M travel baseball program for six years, helping develop more than 50 future collegiate baseball players including 19 Division I commits, and with the Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball League during the 2021 season.

A native of Johnston, R.I, Bordieri is a 2020 graduate of Springfield College, where he earned his degree in sport management with a minor in athletic coaching. He was a member of both the baseball and track and field teams during his time at Springfield and served as class president. Bordieri earned his master's degree in organizational leadership from Southern New Hampshire University in 2021.

Holy Cross finished 2025 with a 31-27 record which was the fourth 30+ win season in program history. They captured their second Patriot League Tournament title and set numerous team and individual single-season records.
