SEATTLE – Sophomore right-handed pitcher
Jake Lenahan tossed four hitless innings as the Holy Cross baseball team picked up an 7-3 win over Seattle Monday at Bannerwood Park.
The Crusaders (4-7) took the series winning three of four games over the RedHawks (2-10). Lenahan struck out a career-high eight hitters over his four frames retiring 10 straight batters before allowing back-to-back walks. He threw 65 pitches – 38 for strikes.
Junior center fielder
Gianni Royer gave the Crusaders the lead for good in the fifth inning connecting on a two-run shot, his second homer of the series. Royer slashed .400/.429/.800 for a 1.29 OPS with two home runs, four RBI, two doubles and six runs scored in the four game set.

- Luke Alwood (L, 0-2), 4.2 innings pitched, six hits allowed, five earned runs, one walk, six strikeouts

- Sophomore Jake Lenahan: (W, 1-3), 4.0 innings pitched, zero hits allowed, zero earned runs, two walks, eight strikeouts
- Junior Colin Dowdle: 2.0 innings pitched, one hit allowed, zero runs, zero walks, one strikeout
- Jake Morrell: 3.1 innings pitched, two hits allowed, two earned runs, six strikeouts
STEPPING TO THE PLATE:
- Royer: 2-for-5, home run, two RBI, run scored
- Junior Braden Connors: 2-for-4, home run, RBI, two runs scored, walk
- Sophomore Simon Landry: 2-for-4, two runs scored
- Junior Alex Sandell: 1-for-4, home run, two RBI, two runs scored
- Preston Armstrong: 1-for-2, home run, three RBI, run scored
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Connors drove the second pitch of the ball game the opposite way for a dinger for a 1-0 Crusader lead in the top of the first.
- Seattle took the lead in the second via a three-run home run for the 3-1 edge.
- In the top of the fourth, the Crusaders put the first two runners on but couldn't advance past second base.
- Following a Landry single up the middle. Sandell demolished the first pitch he saw over everything in left field to tie the game 3-3 in the fifth. Connors second hit of game resulted in a Royer moonshot for the 5-3 Holy Cross advantage.
- In the sixth, sophomore Nick Andersen singled to short which plated a pair of runs making it 7-3 Crusaders.
- Lenahan and Dowdle combined to allowed only three baserunners from the fourth inning on.
