Women's basketball faces road test at American on Saturday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team hits the road to face American on Saturday, Jan. 24 in Washington, D.C. with opening tip at Bender Arena slated for 11 a.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (10-8, 4-3 Patriot League):
  • Holy Cross dropped a 72-58 decision to Navy on Wednesday as a third quarter run by the Midshipmen proved to be the difference in the game.
  • Junior Hannah Griffin scored a career-high 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while fellow junior Kendall Eddy added 11 points, three assists and three steals. Four different Crusaders scored eight or more points as part of the balanced attack.
  • Eddy ranks second in the Patriot League with 1.9 steals per game and has tallied multiple steals in six of her last seven games dating back to Dec. 31.
  • For Griffin, her career-high of 12 surpassed the previous best of eight points that had been set in the win over UMass Lowell on Dec. 21.
  • Senior Simone Foreman tallied eight points and nine rebounds on Wednesday as she surpassed the 700-career rebound mark with 703 and is 19 away from entering the program's top-10 all-time.
  • On the season, Foreman leads the team and ranks fifth in the league in rebounding at 8.4 per game.
  • As a team, Holy Cross has allowed 60 points or less in eight of their last 10 games and 50 or less five times during that stretch.
EYES ON THE EAGLES (5-13, 3-4 Patriot League):
  • American snapped a three-game skid with a 44-41 victory at Colgate on Wednesday as they scored the last four points over the final 0:49 of the game with a go-ahead jumper from Lexi Salazar followed by a layup from Charlotte Tuhy.
  • Colgate had three looks for a game-tying three in the waning seconds, but misfired on the attempts.
  • Tuhy led the Eagles with 22 points and 17 rebounds in the contest for her ninth double-double of the season and fourth against Patriot League competition.
  • Molly Driscoll leads American in scoring at 12.7 points per game, while Tuhy averages a double-double at 11.2 ppg and 10.8 rpg. Tuhy's rebounding total is tops in the league and ranks 13th in all of Division I.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Three different players scored in double figures and the Crusaders limited the Eagles to 29.3% shooting in a 65-48 victory over American on Jan. 10 at the Hart Center Arena. Holy Cross led for the final 33 plus minutes of the game behind 16 points from Foreman and 12 apiece from junior Janie Bachmann and senior Meg Cahalan.
  • The Crusaders have won four of the last five meetings and hold a 30-23 advantage in the all-time series.
