BOSTON, Mass. – Five different members of the Holy Cross women's track & field team won individual event titles at Sunday's Suffolk Ice Breaker Invitational that was held at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
Sophomore
Danielle DiEsso won the 400 meters, senior
Abby Granrath won the 1,000 meters, senior
Alex Lusby captured the 800 meters, junior
Gabby Paolella took first in the shot put and junior
Bridget Sachs won her second pole vault title in as many days.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- DiEsso won the 400 with a time of 59.01 seconds, Granrath took the 1,000 in 2:57.12, Lusby clocked a time of 2:16.05 in the 800, Paolella won the shot put with a mark of 13.00m and Sachs notched first place in the pole vault at 3.85m.
- The Crusaders' 4x400 relay team of DiEsso, Lusby, junior Angelina Lancey and sophomore Abby Desmarais took first place with a time of 4:00.45.
- Sachs' mark of 3.85m is tied for the top mark in the Patriot League so far this season.
- Granrath's 1,000 meter time of 2:57.12, surpassed her previous personal-best of 3:00.19 that had been set at the NEICAAA Indoor Championship on Mar. 7-8, 2025.
- Lusby led a trio of Crusaders in the top five in the 800 as senior Fiona Doherty took third in 2:20.11 and sophomore Shannon Kelly finished fifth in 2:20.76.
- Junior Siena Brunetti finished third in the 3,000 meters with a personal-best time of 9:52.45 and freshman Allie Kaull clocked a time of 10:02.62 for fifth place.
- Desmarais added a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 25.44 seconds and freshman Elle Grant took fourth in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.30 seconds.
- In other action on the track, sophomore Aluna Coogan-Coyne finished fifth in the 1,000 meters in 3:03.55 and senior Giavanna Ciaravino placed fifth in the 60 meter dash at 8.03 seconds.
- Senior Ester Mokonchu continued her strong performance on the weekend as she finished second in the weight throw at 15.77m and sophomore Lily Deforge finished fourth with a mark of 14.81m.
- Sophomore Maddie Goncalves tallied two top-six finishes on the day with third in the shot put at 12.24m and sixth in the weight throw at 14.28m.
- Rounding out the day of strong performances for Holy Cross was junior Shannon Briseno who took fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.40m.

- The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Jan. 30 for the John Thomas Terrier Classic that will be hosted by Boston University.
