WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross track and field teams concluded hosting the Patriot League Outdoor Championship on Saturday, May 3 at the Hart Turf Field & Hart Track. The men's team came in sixth out of nine teams and the women's team finished in fifth out of 10 competing squads.
The men took home 46 points and the women tallied 83 points in the meet.
WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior captain Haley Murphy broke her own school record with a time of 59.08 to win in the event, the gold medal and set a new Patriot League meet record. She previously set the school record (59.60) earlier this season at the Friar Invitational on Apr. 11, 2025.
- Junior Celia Kulis broke her own heptathlon school record with a total of 5,006 points to clinch second and the silver medal in the event. She previously set the record (4,653 pts.) at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship on May 11, 2024.
- Senior Ella Grey broke the 100m hurdles school record with a time of 13.84 to take third and the bronze medal in the event. The previous record (13.92) was set by teammate Kulis on Apr. 12, 2024, at the UConn Northeast Challenge. Kulis also competed in the final, placing fourth with a time of 14.01.
- Senior captain Abby Hughes broke the outdoor 1500m school record with a time of 4:24.88 for sixth in the event. The previous record (4:25.78) was set by Zoe Matherne '18 on May 21, 2018, at the Holy Cross Invitational.
- Senior captain Molly O'Connor broke her own outdoor 400m school record in back-to-back days of the Patriot League Championship. She crossed the finish in 54.81 to finish sixth in the final. She beat her previous record (55.01), which she set on day one, May 2, 2025.
- The 4x100m relay team, including junior Giavanna Ciaravino, O'Connor, freshman Danielle DiEsso and freshman Abby Desmarais, broke the school record for gold with a time of 46.00. Isabella DiMare '19, Allie Smiley '20, Sarah Friess '19 and Alexandra Curtin '19 previously set the record (46.43) on May 4, 2019, at the same meet.
- The 4x400m relay team, including O'Connor, junior Alex Lusby, sophomore Annabel Murray and Murphy, broke the school record with a time of 3:45.99 for fourth place. Kiley Ronan '24, Murphy, Lusby and O'Connor previously set the record (3:48.49) on May 11, 2024, at the NEICAAA Outdoor Championship.
- Desmarais (11.89, fifth) and Ciaravino (11.93, sixth) both competed in the 100m dash final. Desmarais also took fifth (24.46) in the 200m dash final.
- Lusby placed seventh in the 800m run with a time of 2:09.41.
- Freshman Lily Deforge finished ninth in both the shot put (13.71m) and the discus (43.00m).
MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior captain Brian Fennelly clinched second and the silver medal in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 14.07 (0.01 seconds shy of the school record).
- Sophomore Tristan Miller took fourth in the 400m dash final with a time of 47.54.
- Sophomore Joseph Mahon (3:51.26, fourth) and junior captain Liam Lyons (3:52.09, fifth) both competed in the 1500m run final.
- Sophomore Matthew Perkins (53.06, fifth) and Fennelly (54.20) both competed in the 400m hurdles final.
- Freshman Tireni Asenuga placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.13m.
- The 4x100m relay team, including Fennelly, senior captain Aidan Bergin, freshman Iain DeBoth and freshman Josh Gentchos, placed fifth in the event with a time of 41.18.
- The 4x400m relay team, including sophomores Logan Mott, Luke Boothroyd, Perkins and Miller, came in seventh place with a time of 3:17.37.
