WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross baseball team was selected to compete in the Chapel Hill, N.C. Regional as announced by the NCAA on Monday. The Crusaders will make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2017 and second since 1978 after capturing the Patriot League Championship, the second in program history, and earning the conference's automatic bid.
Holy Cross will open the NCAA Tournament with a contest against North Carolina on Friday, May 30 at noon. The Tar Heels are the No. 5 overall seeded team in the tournament. The other two teams selected to the Chapel Hill Regional were No. 2 seed Oklahoma and No. 3 seed Nebraska.
The first round of the tournament features a double elimination format, with one team from each of the 16 regionals across the country advancing to the super regionals. The 16 teams in the super regionals will then play in a best-of-three series to determine the eight teams that will move on to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
Ticket information will be released at a later date.
The Patriot League Champion Holy Cross baseball team enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 31-25 and 17-8 PL. The Crusaders recorded 30+ wins for the fourth time in program history and first time since 2016. The 17 Patriot League wins were a single-season program record.
