Egrie, Wywoda named to 2026 ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team

WORCESTER, Mass. – Recent graduates, Holy Cross baseball outfielder CJ Egrie and right-handed pitcher Jaden Wywoda has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Northeast Region Second Team the organization announced on Tuesday morning following selection by members of the ABCA.

This is the first time since 2012 that the Crusaders have been represented on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team.

Egrie, the two-time Patriot League Player of the Year (2025, 2026), two-time Patriot League first team honoree (2025, 2026) and a 2026 Patriot League All-Tournament Team selection has appeared in 47 games for the Crusaders earning a start in 46 games. He leads the Patriot League and ranks second in the NCAA in stolen bases (46), which is the program's single-season record and is second in the nation in stolen bases per game (0.96).

The Patriot League batting champion (.325), Egrie slashed .325/.474/.446 for a team-best .920 OPS pacing the program in walks (38), on-base percentage (.474), runs (48), and stolen bases. In the Patriot League rankings, Egrie ranks second in OBP, second in runs, second in walks, fourth in hits (54), and fifth in OPS. He has 38 walks to 22 strikeouts in 2026 and has a .977 fielding percentage in right and center field with three outfield assists. In Patriot League games, Egrie leads the conference in stolen bases (25), ranks second in average (.340), third in hits (33), fourth in OBP (.448), tied for seventh in runs (19) and tied for ninth in walks (14).
 
The Holy Cross all-time leading base stealer with 98 steals, Egrie ranks third in Patriot League history in thefts. He has seven 3+ stolen base games in 2026 including three 4 steal performances and is the only player in the Patriot League with 3 or more steals in a game this season. He is also the program's all-time career leader in runs scored (137) while ranking seventh all-time in walks (94) and ninth in OBP (.434).

In the 2026 Patriot League Championship Series, Egrie posted a .700/.824/1.400 triple slash line for a 2.224 OPS with two doubles, a triple, a home run, four RBI, nine runs scored, six stolen bases and six walks to zero strikeouts. He led off game one of championship series with a solo home run on the first pitch of the game in an 11-2 Crusader win and stole home plate on a straight steal in the top of the first of the winner-take-all game three of the series, an 14-11 Crusader win which clinched the Patriot League title. In game three, Egrie matched the Patriot League single-game runs record established the new Patriot League Tournament single-game stolen base record (4). Additionally, Egrie tied the tournament record for runs scored, with 10 throughout the series.  

Wywoda, the 2026 Patriot League Championship MVP, 2025 Patriot League Pitcher of the Year and two-time All-Patriot League first team selection (2025, 2026) joins Egire with second team All-Region honors. 

The NCAA leader in complete games (5), Wywoda paces the Patriot League in innings pitched (98.0) while ranking third in strikeouts (81), third in batting average against (.230), tied for third in wins (6), and sixth in earned run average (4.32). In Patriot League contests, Wywoda ranks second in innings pitched (53.0), third in BAA (.195), tied for third in wins (4), fourth in strikeouts (52) and fifth in ERA (2.89).

One of the best pitchers in the history of the program, Wywoda ranks second in team history in innings pitched (275.3), tied for second in games started (42), third in strikeouts (221), fourth in wins (22), sixth in appearances (61), and is tied for 10th in shutouts (3). In the 2026 campaign, he became only the third player in program history to reach 200 career strikeouts.

During the 2026 Patriot League Championship Series, Wywoda got the start in game one at Bucknell on May 18 and threw 122 pitches in a complete game effort striking out seven scattering two runs on four hits and a walk in an 11-2 Crusader win. He followed that up two days later hurling 74 pitches picking up a save across 4.2 innings of relief in the game three championship clincher, 14-11 at Bucknell on May 20. Wywoda was named Patriot League Championship MVP, totaling 13.2 innings of work across the championship series and hurling 196 pitches over three days. Throughout the Tournament, he threw 19.2 innings, with a 1-0 record, a save, and 15 total strikeouts. The 19.2 innings pitched was a new Patriot League Tournament record. 

The ABCA All-America Team was first recognized in 1949 and now spans nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II, and III, the Pacific Association Division, and high school.

The Crusaders just concluded the 150th anniversary of baseball at the College of the Holy Cross with a 25-30, 13-13 PL record. This was the third straight season of 25+ wins for the program and the team became the first non service academy to capture back-to-back Patriot League Championships in Patriot League history. Holy Cross became the first No. 4 seed to win a Patriot League Tournament Championship since Bucknell in 2010.
