PROVIDENCE, R.I.— The Holy Cross track and field teams competed in the Friar Invitational hosted by Providence on Friday, Apr. 11.

MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Junior captain Liam Lyons broke the 55-year-old mile school record with a time of 3:59.75 to win the event on day two. The previous record (4:04.1) was set by Art Dulong on May 24, 1969. Sophomore Joseph Mahon also competed in the event finishing fifth (4:06.02).
• Freshman Iain DeBoth won the 200m dash crossing the finish at 22.74
• Sophomore Matthew Perkins won the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.61.
• Sophomore Tristan Miller claimed third in the 400m dash with a time of 48.62. Freshman Brendan Rogers also competed in the event taking sixth (50.22).

WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior captain Haley Murphy broke her own 400m hurdles school record with a time of 59.60 to win the event. She previously set the record (1:00.45) to open the outdoor season at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational on Mar. 21.
• Senior captain Abby Hughes set a new outdoor mile school record with a time of 4:48.01 to take fourth in the event.
• Senior captain Molly O'Connor won the 400m dash with a time of 56.42.
• Freshman Abby Desmarais won the 200m dash with a time of 25.37. Junior Giavanna Ciaravino followed Desmarais taking second in the event (25.52).
• Junior captain Alex Lusby placed fifth in the 800m invitational crossing the finish at 2:10.94.

• The Holy Cross track and field teams will return to action for the Julie LaFreniere Commonwealth Invitational hosted by UMass Amherst in Amherst, Mass. on Apr. 13 at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
