BOSTON, Mass.— The Holy Cross track and field teams concluded the New England (NEICAAA) Indoor Championship on Saturday, Mar. 8 at The Reggie Lewis Center. The men's team came in fourth out of 25 teams and the women's team finished in third out of 23 competing squads.
The men took home 59 points and the women tallied 97 points in the meet.
WOMEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior captain Abby Hughes broke the 3000m school record with a time of 9:41.40 to win the event, the gold medal and pick up 10 points. The previous record (9:45.88) was set by Eve Feuerbach '23 on Feb. 3, 2023, at the same meet.
- Junior captain Alex Lusby won the 800m run final with a time of 2:12.10 for 10 points. Sophomore Annabel Murray (2:16.11, fourth, five pts.) and senior Helene Cummings (2:17.44, fifth, four pts.) also competed in the final.
- Junior Celia Kulis won the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.56 for 10 points and the gold medal.
- Senior captain Molly O'Connor claimed the bronze in the 400m dash final with a time of 56.86 for six points. Sophomore Lindsay Gill also competed in the final (58.37, eighth, one pt.).
- Senior captain Haley Murphy finished fourth in the 500m dash finals with a time of 1:14.87 for five points.
- Sophomore Gabby Paolella placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 12.48m for five points.
- Senior Giavanna Ciaravino took fourth in the 200m dash final (25.53, five pts.) and finished seventh in the 60m dash final (7.78, two pts.).
- Junior Abby Granrath (3:00.19, sixth, three pts.) and senior Shannon Jordan (3:02.06, seventh, two pts.) both competed in the 1000m run final.
- The 4x400m relay team, including freshmen Danielle DiEsso and Abby Desmarais, Murphy and O'Connor, claimed second place and the silver medal with a time of 3:48.64.
MEN'S MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Senior captain Brian Fennelly broke his own heptathlon school record with a total of 5,003 points to win the event and the gold medal. He previously set the record (4,935 pts.) at the Patriot League Indoor Championship on Mar. 2, 2025.
- Sophomore Tristan Miller won the 400m dash final with a time of 48.25 for 10 points and the gold medal. Freshman Arthur Ribeiro also competed in the final placing fourth (49.87, five points).
- Sophomore Joseph Mahon won the mile run with a time of 4:10.29 for 10 points and the gold medal.
- Junior captain Liam Lyons claimed the bronze in the 3000m with a time of 8:17.18 for six points.
- Senior captain Josh Exantus took fourth in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 8.29 for five points.
- Sophomore Luke Boothroyd placed sixth in the 500m dash final with a time of 1:06.52 for three points.
- Senior Andrew Van De Mark finished seventh in the 800m run final with a time of 1:56.64 for two points.
