Junior guard/forward Gabe Warren of the Holy Cross men’s basketball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for competition from December 1-7.
Warren started and played in both games for the Crusaders (2-0) this past week averaging 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks across 35.3 minutes per game. The Patriot League honorable mention selection shot 45.8% (11-for-24) from the floor, 70.0% (7-of-10) from deep, and 72.7% (8-of-11) at the line. Warren tied for the Patriot League lead in steals per game (2.5), while ranking third in three-point percentage (70.0), fourth in three-pointers (7), fifth in minutes per game (35.3), tied for sixth in scoring (18.5), tied for seventh in blocks per game (1.0) and tied for 10th in rebounding (6.0) for the week ending Dec. 7.
In the 76-59 win over Northeastern (Dec. 3), the junior scored 12 points with four rebounds, two steals, two blocks, and an assist. He then erupted for a career-high 25 points with personal-highs in rebounds (8), three-pointers (6, 6-for-7, 85.7%), and free throws (5) with three steals while shooting 7-for-14 (50.0%) from the hardwood in 39 minutes of action during the 16-point comeback win at Fordham (Dec. 6).
Warren scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half at Fordham (Dec. 6) with a clutch layup coming during a 15-2 game clinching run late. He was named the Tom Konchalski Classic MVP (at Fordham, Dec. 6).
