WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior
Jack Greiner has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from November 3-9. Greiner turned in strong performances for the Holy Cross men’s swimming and diving team in a pair of meets last weekend.
During Friday’s 154-146 victory over Bryant, Greiner had three individual first-place finishes, in the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.16), the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.02) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.19). He also swam a leg on the 200-yard medley relay team that set a new Hart Center pool record with a first-place time of 1:33.19. Then is Saturday’s Worcester City Championship, Greiner took first place in the distance pentathlon with a total time of 11:32.50, while winning all five events: the 400-yard individual medley (3:58.14), the 200-yard butterfly (1:52.92), the 200-yard backstroke (1:52.16), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.51) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.77).
On the season, Greiner owns the fastest times on the team in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.77), the 50-yard backstroke (23.47), the 200-yard backstroke (1:48.65), the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.95), the 200-yard individual medley (1:49.94) and the 400-yard individual medley (3:58.14), while setting new school records in the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley.
Holy Cross (2-2 overall) returns to action when it takes part in the Harold Anderson Invitational in Kingston, R.I., from Nov. 20-23.
