Women's basketball hits road to battle Harvard on Wednesday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball team hits the road to battle defending Ivy League champion Harvard on Wednesday evening with tip off slated for 7 p.m. Fans can tune in to watch all the action on ESPN+.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (3-4, 0-0 Patriot League):
  • Holy Cross notched a commanding 64-45 victory over UNH on Sunday behind a balanced scoring effort that featured three players in double figures.
  • The Crusaders took a 6-5 lead on a layup from senior forward Meg Cahalan early in the first quarter and embarked on a 22-0 run that resulted in a 26-5 lead with 8:36 left in the second period. From there, the hosts eventually took a 38-13 advantage into the locker room and never looked back, leading by as many as 32 in the second half.
  • Cahalan led the way offensively with 20 points, while junior guard Janie Bachmann added a career-high 13 on 5-of-8 shooting and senior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan contributed 11 points of her own to go along with six rebounds and five assists.
  • Bachmann surpassed her previous career-high of 12 that had been set on Nov. 19 at Rhode Island and added eight rebounds.
  • On the season, Cahalan leads the Patriot League in scoring at 17.8 points per game and has scored 20-plus points three times.
  • Sunday marked the fourth time that Flanagan has tallied five or more assists in a game this year and the point guard leads the conference and ranks 15th nationally in assist/turnover ratio at 3.5.
  • Junior guard Kendall Eddy added eight points, four boards, three assists and three steals as part of the victory over UNH.
CAPTURING THE CRIMSON (4-5, 0-0 Ivy):
  • Harvard notched the program's first ever win over an SEC foe on Sunday as they defeated Arkansas by a score of 69-51. The Crimson used an 11-1 run over the final 2:34 of the first quarter to take a 23-12 lead after one and led the remainder of the way.
  • Katie Krupa and Alayna Rocco paced Harvard with 15 points and Aubrey Shaw added 11 points and nine rebounds.
  • Shaw's nine boards helped the Crimson post a 42-27 edge in the rebounding battle and Arkansas committed 21 turnovers.
  • Abigail Wright leads the team in scoring (14.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg) and a total of four players average eight or more points per game on the season.
  • Wright has scored in double figures in seven of her nine games and tallied a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds in a win over BC on Nov. 19.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Wednesday marks the first meeting between the two teams since Harvard won a 79-76 overtime battle on Nov. 25, 2014 at Purcell Pavilion on the campus of University of Notre Dame.
  • Holy Cross holds a slight 8-7 edge in the all-time series.
