Women's basketball set to host New Hampshire on Sunday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball team will host New Hampshire in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon at the Hart Center Arena with opening tip set for 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-4, 0-0 Patriot League):
  • The Crusaders fell to UMass in a 63-40 setback on Tuesday in Worcester as the Minutewomen took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the hosts by a 23-11 margin in the stanza.
  • Holy Cross scored the first seven points of the contest, but UMass was able to battle back to take a slight 25-22 lead into halftime. From there, the Minutewomen extended the lead to double digits in the afore-mentioned third quarter and picked up the victory.
  • Senior captain Meg Cahalan scored in double digits for the fifth time in as many games this season as she led the Crusaders with 15 points. On the season, Cahalan ranks second in the Patriot League in scoring at 17.4 points per game (ppg).
  • Cahalan matched her career-high with 25 points on Nov. 19 at Rhode Island.
  • Freshman guard Brianna McDermott logged a season-best 23 minutes on Tuesday and tallied six points to go along with four assists, while junior guard Kendall Eddy added three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
  • Fellow senior captain Kaitlyn Flanagan leads the conference in assist/turnover ratio (3.3), a total that ranks her tied for 27th nationally. The Plymouth Meeting, Pa., native also sits fourth in the Patriot League at 3.8 assists per game.
  • UNH marks the first of four America East opponents that the Crusaders will play over the next month along with Bryant (Dec. 7), Vermont (Dec. 16) and UMass Lowell (Dec. 21).
WATCHING THE WILDCATS (2-5, 0-0 America East):
  • The Wildcats held a 36-24 halftime lead at Brown on Tuesday before ultimately dropping a 68-60 decision. Brown put together a dominant fourth quarter in the contest as the Bears outscored UNH 26-13 and took the lead for good with 2:43 to play.
  • Eva DeChent paced the Wildcats with 15 points and Elizabeth Lavoie added 10 points and seven boards.
  • DeChent, a junior guard, leads the team and America East in scoring at 18.3 ppg and has scored 25-plus points three times thus far.
  • Lavoie checks in at 10.4 ppg and shares the team lead in rebounding with DeChent and Camryn Fauria at 4.3 rpg.
  • UNH has dropped road contests to fellow Patriot League foes Colgate (89-79, Nov. 10) and Army West Point (63-44, Nov. 20).
  • The Wildcats were selected to finish seventh out of nine teams in the America East preseason poll after posting a 10-20 (4-12 America East) record a season ago.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross notched a 57-43 victory in Durham, N.H. on Nov. 26, 2024 behind 21 points and nine rebounds from Simone Foreman and 11 points apiece from Cahalan and Eddy.
  • The Crusaders limited UNH to 30.0% (15-of-50) shooting from the field in the matchup and have won four straight in the series dating back to the 2019-20 campaign.
  • All-time, Holy Cross holds a 19-9 advantage in the series.
