Men’s basketball ends three game homestand Wednesday versus Northeastern

The Holy Cross men's basketball team concludes their three game home swing when they welcome nonconference opponent Northeastern to the Hart Center Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. The contest will stream live on ESPN+ with Kevin Gehl (play-by-play) and Jacob VanRyn (analyst) on the call.

The game will be a purple out, fans are encouraged to wear purple and fans can bring a new and unwrapped toy to benefit 508 Forever Young After you make the one unwrapped toy donation, you will receive a free ticket to the Holy Cross men's basketball game versus Northeastern.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (2-6, 0-0 PL): 
  • Holy Cross is coming off a 77-53 victory over Worcester State the day before Thanksgiving. Sophomore guard Tyler Boston scored a team-best 12 points with a career-high seven boards. Sophomore forward Aidan Richard dropped 12 points with five boards going 5-for-7 (71.4 percent) from the field.
  • Junior guard/forward Joe Nugent has 158 career three-pointers and needs one more three-pointer to move to fifth place on the program's all-time list to pass Austin Butler (158, 2017-21) Nugent needs 65 more triples to become the program's all-time leader in three-pointers.
  • Holy Cross is one of the most disciplined teams in the Patriot League fouling opponents an average of 15.4 times per game which is 40th fewest in the NCAA. The Crusaders rank fourth in the conference in three-point attempts per game (24.3).
  • Holy Cross ranks 336th in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings following a loss over Siena and win over Worcester State. They rank 301st (100.2) in offensive rating and 339th (115.8) in defensive rating. KenPom has Holy Cross facing the 87th toughest nonconference schedule in the nation.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES (3-4, 0-0 CAA): 
  • Northeastern has lost three of their last four games including an 86-73 loss at Wake Forest on Friday, Nov. 28. Miles Newton scored a contes-best 22 points with four threes, three steals, two assists and two rebounds.
  • The Huskies tied with Hofstra for a seventh place finish in the 2025-26 CAA Men's Basketball Preseason Poll. LA Pratt was named to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team. Pratt has not played in a game since Nov. 11, 2025 at Harvard.
  • Youri Fritz, a 6-9 forward currently ranks 10th in the NCAA in field goal percentage (67.3 percent). As a team, the Huskies are second in the CAA in turnovers forced per game (15.57) which is 49th in the country and in steals per game (9.1) coming in at 53rd in the nation.
  • Northeastern ranks 190th in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings ranking 243rd (103.9) in offensive rating and 156th (106.6) in defensive rating.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 13-7 (.650) in the series history against Northeastern which began back in 1924. The Crusaders are 5-3 (.625) against the Huskies in the Hart Center Arena.
  • In their last meeting on Dec. 10, 2022, the Huskies earned a one point 59-58 win. Gerrale Gates scored a game-high 19 points with eight boards, five steals and four assists in the loss for Holy Cross.
  • The Crusaders have not beat the Huskies since a 61-47 win on Feb. 23, 2008.
