Men’s basketball concludes nonconference slate at Harvard

The Holy Cross men's basketball team ends their 2025-26 nonconference schedule with a 2 p.m. tilt at Harvard on Saturday, Dec. 20. The contest will be broadcast regionally on NESN and through the NESN 360 App as well as ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (5-7, 0-0 PL): 
  • Holy Cross' four game winning streak came to an end following a 89-64 setback to Dartmouth on Tuesday evening. The Big Green shot a season-best 55.4 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from three-point land. Sophomore guard Tyler Boston led the way for the Crusaders with a team-high 19 points and five rebounds.
  • Boston ranks tied for sixth in the Patriot League in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4), eighth in assists (38), eighth in assists per game (3.2), ninth in scoring (13.7), 10th in steals (16), 11th in steals per game (1.3) and 11th in free throw percentage (82.8).
  • The Crusaders have enjoyed a decent amount of success against schools from the Ivy League over the last 23 seasons. Holy Cross stands 34-32 against Ivy League foes since the beginning of the 1999-2000 season. Holy Cross owns an all-time record of 208-134 (.609) against the eight schools which are members of the Ivy League (46-19 vs. Brown, 5-7 against Columbia, 3-2 vs. Cornell, 68-32 against Dartmouth, 46-31 vs. Harvard, 3-3 against Pennsylvania, 2-7 vs. Princeton and 35-33 against Yale).
  • Holy Cross is one of the most disciplined teams in the nation (17th) and the top in the Patriot League in fouls per game (14.5). As a team, the Crusaders rank second in the conference in turnovers per game (11.8).
  • The Crusaders are 3-1 (.750) in the month of December holding a +3.8 scoring margin and a +6.5 free throws made per game margin. Junior guard/forward Gabe Warren has carried the load for Holy Cross leading the team in scoring (14.5), rebounding (4.8), three-pointers (8), and steals per game (1.5) during the month.
  • Holy Cross is the seventh ranked Patriot League team in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (314th). They rank 277th (101.8) in offensive rating and 333rd (115.1) in defensive rating.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON (5-6, 0-0 Ivy): 
  • Harvard has lost five of their last six games including a 79-69 setback at Furman on Saturday, Dec. 6. Robert Hinton scored a game-high 26 points with five rebounds, five assists and three steals in the loss.
  • Hinton (16.9 points per game), the 2025 Ivy League Rookie of the Year leads four double digit scorers for the Crimson. (Chandler Pigge – 13.5, Thomas Batties II – 11.4, Tey Barbour – 11.4)
  • The Crimson were selected to finish second in the 2025-26 Ivy League Men's Basketball Preseason Poll.
  • Like the Crusaders, Harvard is extremely disciplined as they rank sixth in the country in fouls per game (13.8). They also shoot a high percentage from the charity stripe ranking 13th in the nation in free throw percentage (78.2).
  • Harvard ranks four out of eight Ivy League teams in the 2026 Pomeroy College Basketball Ratings (207th). They are 215th in offensive rating (105.3) and 215th (109.5) in defensive rating.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 46-31 (.594) in the series history against Harvard which began back in 1901.
  • The Crimson have won five of the last six meetings against the Crusaders.
  • In their last meeting on Dec. 4, 2024, the Crusaders earned a 68-67 win at home. Then-sophomore Joe Nugent scored 13 points with four boards and a steal in the victory.
