ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Men's and women's cross country competed at the Rothenberg Run hosted by Brown on Friday, Oct. 24. Both teams competed against four other schools on the Mark Coogan XC Course at Highland Park.
Junior Thomas Speltz finished second overall, crossing the finish at 15:32.82 on the five-kilometer course. The Crusaders finished in second with a total of 54 points. Brown captured the team title with 38 points and Providence was in third with 70 points.
Senior Ben Stone earned an 11th-place finish with a time of 15:51.13, while sophomore Jack Larkin came in 12th with a time of 15:52.80. Sophomores Robert Foster (14th, 15:57.07), and Joey Ryan (15th, 15:58.06) rounded out the Holy Cross top five runners.
Senior captain Abby Granrath was Holy Cross's top finisher, claiming sixth place overall with a time of 10:42.03 on the three-kilometer course. The Crusaders finished in second with a total of 66 points. Providence captured the team title with 23 points and Bryant was in third with 84 points.
Freshman Allie Kaull earned a 13th-place finish with a time of 10:42.03, while sophomore Shannon Kelly came in 15th at 10:57.50. Freshman Sinead Butler (18th, 10:59.71) and senior Meryl Sullivan (19th, 10:59.82) rounded out the Holy Cross top five runners.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Oct. 31, when they head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Patriot League Cross Country Championship hosted by Lehigh and held at Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.
