The Holy Cross men's basketball team will be back at home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when it faces Navy at 6 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Midshipmen will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+. This will be Salute to Service Night at the Hart Center, with all active and retired guard, veteran and reservist members of the military eligible to claim two complimentary tickets to the game.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 9-6 this year, with a 1-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are coming off a 75-64 setback at American on Sunday, which snapped a four-game winning streak. Freshman guard
Max Green leads the team by averaging 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while hitting 38.8 percent of his three-point attempts. Sophomore forward
Joe Nugent has added 12.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest, while senior forward
Caleb Kenney is chipping in with 10.8 points, 4.0 boards and 1.1 blocks per game.
Navy stands 5-10 overall this season, including a 2-0 record in the Patriot League. The Midshipmen have defeated American (81-58) and Lafayette (71-70) in their last two games. Junior guard Austin Benigni has led the team by averaging 16.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game, while hitting 86.6 percent of his foul shots. Junior center Aidan Kehoe has put up 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest, with junior forward Donovan Draper adding 8.2 points and 7.7 boards per game.
After the contest with Navy, Holy Cross head to Lafayette for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Jan. 11.
