Women’s basketball to battle BU on CBS Sports Network Monday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team puts their five game winning streak on the line when they travel to Patriot League opponent Boston University Monday, Jan. 27 for a 4 p.m. Turnpike Trophy showdown. The contest will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network with Jason Knapp (play-by-play) and Leah Secondo (color) on the call.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-5, 7-1 PL): 
  • The Crusaders have won five straight contests and moved to 10-1 (.909) over their last 11 games including a 53-27 win at home against Loyola (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. Junior Meg Cahalan scored a game-high 17 points shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from the field with three triples and three blocks.
  • On Saturday, Holy Cross held Loyola (Md.) to 27 points in the contest which established a new program record for the fewest points allowed in a single game (29 – vs. Army – Jan. 20, 1996). The eight points allowed in the first half also set the program record for the fewest points allowed in a half (10 - vs. Army - Jan. 20, 1996). As of Jan. 25, 2025, the 27 points allowed by the Crusaders was tied for the fourth fewest in the NCAA this season.
  • Junior guard Kaitlyn Flanagan recorded her third game (vs. Loyola (Md.)) over the last five contests with no turnovers. She has 12 games of zero turnovers in her career. Holy Cross is 12-0 (1.000) in those contests.
  • Senior Lindsay Berger, the Patriot League Player of the Week on Jan. 20 has been dialed in the last five games for the Crusaders averaging a team-high 15.4 points with 7.0 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.4 assists per game on 64.6% (31-of-48) shooting and 83.3% efficiency at the free throw line (15-of-18). 
  • The Crusaders have been locked in the last four games. They're holding opponents to 40.0 points per game on 26.5 percent (54-of-204) shooting and 22.7 percent (15-of-66) shooting from deep. They have a +23.3 scoring margin and have a +6.3 rebound margin.
  • Holy Cross is 7-5 (.583) in televised games since 2022-23 and 3-0 (1.000) on CBS Sports Network. They are 2-1 (.667) in 2024-25 in televised contests.
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 33 times this season which ranks tied for sixth fewest in the NCAA.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 34-25 (.576) on the road compared to 44-12 (.786) at home in the Hart Center Arena.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS (7-12, 1-7 PL): 
  • BU has lost five straight games and is 2-8 (.200) over their last 10 games falling to league opponent Bucknell 74-59 in Lewisburg on Saturday. Anete Adler scored a team-high 15 points on 60 percent (6-of-10) shooting in 15 minutes off the bench.
  • Alex Giannaros was named Preseason All-Patriot League back in October. She is tied for first in the conference in three-pointers per game (2.4), ranks second in three-pointers (45), third in minutes per game (34.1) and fifth in scoring (14.1).
  • Allison Schwertner is a four-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week selection most recently earning the honor on Jan. 20. She is the Terriers' leading rebounder (4.6) and ranks second on the team in scoring (8.0) and field goal conversions (65).
  • As a team the Terriers struggle on the offensive glass averaging 8.1 offensive rebounds per game which ranks 340th out of 353 NCAA programs.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 24-15 (.615) in the series history against the Terriers which began in 1975. Holy Cross is 11-9 (.550) on the road at BU.
  • In their last meeting on March 17, 2024, the Crusaders bested the Terriers 61-55 in the Hart Center to claim back-to-back Patriot League Tournament Championships and the 13th in team history. Then-junior Lindsay Berger scores seven points with four rebounds and one block in 26 minutes of action.
