Women’s basketball to battle Bucknell in Mental Health Awareness Game

The Holy Cross women's basketball team returns to action in the Hart Center Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 15 to take on Patriot League opponent Bucknell. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and the contest will stream live on ESPN+.
 
It is the Crusaders' Mental Health Awareness Game. The importance of mental health will be recognized during the game in conjunction with the Holy Cross Student Government Association.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (10-5, 3-1 PL): 
  • The Crusaders earned their seventh win over the last nine games defeating Lafayette 75-69 lats Saturday. Sophomore Kendall Eddy scored a career-high 19 points canning a personal-best five three-pointers while senior Lindsay Berger (16 points, 12 rebounds) and junior Kaitlyn Flanagan (11 points, 10 assists) recorded double-doubles.
  • Flanagan recorded her first game of 2024-25 with zero turnovers against Lafayette on Saturday. In her career, Flanagan has 10 games with zero turnovers. The Crusaders are 10-0 (1.000) in those games.
  • Over four conference contests, Flanagan is averaging 6.5 assists per game and has totaled 26 assists which is both tops in the league. In league games, she is third in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.3).
  • Holy Cross is one of the most disciplined teams in the NCAA as they rank 12th in the nation in fouls per game (13.3) which is second in the Patriot League.
  • The Crusaders have only had their shot blocked 24 times this season which is tied with Miami FL for second fewest in the NCAA.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 42-12 (.778) at home in the Hart Center Arena compared to 32-25 (.561) on the road.
SCOUTING THE BISON (8-7, 3-1 PL): 
  • Bucknell has won three straight games after upending American 65-50 on Saturday in Washington, D.C. Ashley Sofilkanich scored a career-high 29 points with 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
  • Sofilkanich was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week for the third time this season the league office announced on Monday. In a 2-0 week for the Bison, Sofilkanich averaged 25.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 blocks and per game on 54.3 percent (19-of-35) shooting.
  • Sofilkanich has nine 20+ point games and has reached double-figures in 14 consecutive contests. She is the Patriot League leader in blocks per game (2.7) and blocks (40) which ranks seventh and eighth in the nation.
  • As a team, Bucknell is 19th in the country in blocks per game (5.2) which is tops in the Patriot League.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 52-26 (.667) in the series history against the Bison which began in 1991. Holy Cross is 30-9 (.769) against Bucknell in the Hart Center Arena.   
  • In their last meeting on March 11, 2024, Holy Cross earned a 61-51 win in the Patriot League Tournament Quarterfinals. The Crusaders trailed by three, 42-39 with 9:13 left in the fourth quarter before going on a 17-8 run to take a six point 56-50 lead with two minutes to go.
