The Holy Cross women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, February 10 for a 3 p.m. Patriot League bout with American in Bender Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-7, 8-2 PL): 

• Holy Cross' 14 game home winning streak was snapped last Saturday falling to league foe Loyola (Md.) by a 60-47 score. Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy scored a game-high 17 points on 50 percent (7-of-14) shooting while classmate Janelle Allen was one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.
• As a team, the Crusaders rank 21st out of 349 ranked teams in the NCAA in turnovers per game (13.0) which is the lowest mark in the Patriot League. Sophomore Kaitlyn Flanagan is 12th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.9) which is tops in the conference while senior Cara McCormack is tied for second in the league with a 1.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Holy Cross has a 10-1 (.909) record at home and a 4-6 (.400) mark on the road in 2023-24. The Crusaders have a +14.1 scoring margin in the Hart Center Arena but it drops to a +.2 scoring margin on the road.
• As a team in 10 conference contests Holy Cross is atop the Patriot League rankings in scoring offense (65.8), scoring defense (55.0), scoring margin (10.8), field goal percentage defense (35.4), rebounds per game (38.9), defensive rebounds per game (27.3), rebound margin (5.2), turnovers per game (11.5), turnovers (115) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.35).

SCOUTING THE EAGLES (8-13, 6-4 PL): 

• Since starting league play 5-1, American is 1-3 over their last four league games falling to league opponent Bucknell 61-47 on Sunday. Anna LeMaster scored a team-best 15 points in 26 minutes off the bench to go with six rebounds.
• American's Emily Johns was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team. Johns is the team leader and ranks 13th in the Patriot League in scoring at 11.8 points per game. During conference games, she ranks eighth with 12.9 points per game.
• American ranks 329th out of 349 teams in the NCAA in three-point percentage (25.2) which is the worst mark in the Patriot League.
• The Eagles who currently are tied for second place in the Patriot League were slated to finish fifth in the 2023-24 Patriot League Preseason Poll. American earned 90 points and two first place votes.

LAST TIME THEY MET: 

• Holy Cross is 27-22 (.551) in the series against American which began in 1990.
• In their last meeting on Jan. 24, 2024, the Crusaders rallied from 10 point deficit for a 59-48 win in the Hart Center. The Crusader defensive unit held American to 15 second half points on 17.2 percent (5-of-29) shooting while senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy dropped a game-high 22 points for Holy Cross.
