Women’s basketball travels to Bucknell on Wednesday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will look to stop their four game losing streak when they take on Patriot League opponent Bucknell on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. in Sojka Pavilion. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-10, 8-5 PL): 
  • The Crusaders were downed on the road 58-43 Saturday to conference foe Army. Cara McCormack scored a team-high 14 points with four boards and a pair of three-pointers in the loss.
  • The Crusaders have dropped four straight contests and five of their last six games. During the 1-5 stretch, Holy Cross is being outshot from the field, (38.3%-to-36.0%), from three-point range (35.1%-to-29.7%), outrebounded by 1.7 boards per game, have lost the turnover margin by 2.7 and the scoring margin by 8.3.
  • Through 13 conference games, senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy is the Patriot League leader in three-pointers per game (2.3) and three-pointers (30) while teammate, sophomore Kaitlyn Flanagan paces the league in assists per game (5.2), assists (67) and assist-to-turnover ratio (3.4).
SCOUTING THE BISON (9-15, 6-7 PL): 
  • Bucknell's four game winning streak came to an end on Saturday falling to Colgate 59-55 at home. Emma Theodorsson scored a game-high 23 points with two rebounds and a steal in the setback.
  • Ashley Sofilkanich was named the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Rookie of the Week the league offices announced on Monday. Sofilkanich averaged 19.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50 percent (15-of-30) from the field in a 1-1 week for Bucknell.
  • The Bison are 4-1 over their last five games. Theodorsson is averaging a team-best 17.5 points during that stretch while Sofilkanich is averaging 17.2 points and a team-high 9.4 rebounds per game.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 50-26 (.658) in the series against Bucknell which began in 1991.
  • In their last meeting on Jan. 3 2024 the Crusaders captured a 69-54 victory against the Bison in the Hart Center Arena. Bronagh Power-Cassidy scored a game-high 21 points on 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) shooting with two steals and two rebounds.
