Women’s basketball looks to stop skid at Army Saturday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 17 for a 1 p.m. tip-off with Patriot League opponent Army West Point. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-9, 8-4 PL): 
  • Holy Cross suffered a 60-43 setback to league opponent Colgate Wednesday evening in the Hart Center Arena. Senior Janelle Allen scored a game-high 18 points on 61.5 percent (8-of-13) shooting with five rebounds and two blocks.
  • Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy was named Patriot League Honorable Mention for the fourth time this season on Monday. In 12 conference games, Power-Cassidy is the league leader in three-pointers per game (2.4), and three-pointers (29), she ranks second in scoring (16.3), is fourth in field goal percentage (46.1) and is tied for eighth in minutes per game (32.6).
  • The Crusaders have lost three straight games and four of their last five contests. Over the last three games, Holy Cross is allowing opponents to shoot 41.6 percent (72-of-173) from the field, have a -12.0 scoring margin and have a-3.7 turnover margin.
  • Four of the Crusaders' final six games are on the road. Holy Cross has a 4-7 road record this season compared to a 10-2 mark at home. The Crusaders' +1.6 turnover margin at home slides to -2.8 on the road.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (10-12, 7-5 PL): 
  • Since winning five straight games from Jan. 17 to Jan. 31, Army has lost two of their last three games including a 72-64 setback at Boston University on Wednesday. Fiona Hastick scored 16 points with eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in the loss.
  • Army's Trinity Hardy was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week on Monday. Hardy matched a personal-best with 23 points on 10-of-16 (62.5 percent) shooting with eight rebounds, five assists and a steal in a 70-58 win over Navy last Saturday.
  • Across 12 conference games, Hardy is third in the league in steals per game (2.2), tied for fourth in assists per game (3.4) seventh in free throw percentage (76.8 percent), tied for eighth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4), ninth in rebounding (6.3) and is tied for 11th in scoring (12.6).
  • As a team out of 349 NCAA Division I teams, the Black Knights rank 329th in defensive rebounds per game (21.7), 319th in field goal percentage defense (44.1 percent) and 318th in field goal percentage (36.7 percent) all rank last in the Patriot League.  
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 41-33 (.554) in the series against Army which began in 1991.
  • In their last meeting on Jan. 6, 2024 the Crusaders won by a 67-52 score. Senior Cara McCormack scored a career-high 22 points with four rebounds in the win.
