Women’s basketball squares off against Colgate on Wednesday

The Holy Cross women's basketball team is slated to take on Patriot League opponent Colgate Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Hart Center Arena. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-8, 8-3 PL): 
  • The Crusaders have lost three of their last four games including a 74-68 decision to league opponent American on Saturday in D.C. Senior Bronagh Power-Cassidy dropped a game-high and season-best matching 24 points setting a new personal-best with six three-pointers in the loss.
  • Power-Cassidy was named Patriot League Honorable Mention for the fourth time this season on Monday. In 11 conference games, Power-Cassidy is the league leader in three-pointers per game (2.6), three-pointers (29), three-point percentage (42.0), ranks second in scoring (17.2), is tied for third in field goal percentage (47.4) and is 11th in minutes per game (32.3).
  • The Crusaders have fared better at home (10-1) than on the road (4-7) this season. In the Hart Center Arena, the Crusaders have a +14.1 scoring margin and have held opponents to 23.7 percent (51-of-215) three-point efficiency.
  • Senior Cara McCormack has knocked down 126 three-pointers in her career. She needs 19 more to move into 10th place on the program's all-time list (145).
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (11-11, 4-7 PL): 
  • After starting the season 11-4 and 4-0 in the Patriot League, Colgate has lost seven straight games including a 64-61 setback to Loyola (Md.) Saturday afternoon at home. Morgan McMahon scored a game-high 20 points in 22 minutes off the bench in the setback.
  • During their seven game skid, Colgate has lost those seven contests by a combined 37 points. Over the last four games, the Raiders have fallen by a combined nine points.
  • Taylor Golembiewski was one of five athletes on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team. Golembiewski is third in the conference in free throw percentage (80%) and 11th in the conference in scoring (12.2). Per SportsReference, she is ninth in the league in offensive rating (95.7).
  • As a team, Colgate is sixth in the nation in three-point percentage defense (25.2%) which leads the conference.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 61-11 (.847) in the series history against Colgate dating back to 1991.
  • Colgate picked up a 60-56 victory on Feb. 18, 2023 in Worcester. Tiasia McMillan scored 15 points and was named the Winter Homecoming MVP.
  • The Crusaders are 33-5 (.868) in the Hart Center Arena against the Raiders.
