The Holy Cross men's basketball team is set to open up Patriot League play when it faces Loyola (Md.) at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2. The contest between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross owns an overall record of 8-5 so far this year, and is currently on a three-game winning streak with victories over Quinnipiac (70-69), Siena (78-70) and Regis (82-46). Freshman guard
Max Green leads the team by averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while hitting 40.3 percent of his three-point attempts. Sophomore forward
Joe Nugent has added 12.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest, while senior forward
Caleb Kenney is chipping in with 10.4 points, 3.9 boards and 1.1 blocks per game.
Loyola stands 5-6 overall this season, having lost two straight and three of its last four games. Senior forward Milos Ilic has led the team by averaging 14.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, while hitting 53.8 percent of his field goal attempts. Sophomore guard Jordan Stiemke has put up 11.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest, with sophomore guard Jacob Theodosiou adding 11.6 points and 3.1 boards per game.
After the contest with Loyola, Holy Cross will travel to American for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday, Jan. 5.
