Three members of the Holy Cross football team earned All-New England honors, as announced by the New England Football Writers this week. Senior linebacker
Frankie Monte, sophomore running back
Jayden Clerveaux and senior tight end
Jacob Petersen were all recognized, with each being named to the All-New England squad for the first time in their careers.
Monte, a team captain, earned All-Patriot League first team honors last week. He ranked in the top 10 nationally in total tackles (119, including 55 solo) and fumble recoveries (3), and also paced the Crusader defense with 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Monte was a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and received the New England Football Writers' Gold Helmet Award in back-to-back weeks. Monte was a leader on a strong defense that held four of Holy Cross' six Patriot League opponents to one touchdown or less this year — just 16.5 points per game, the best mark in the conference.
Clerveaux earned 2024 All-Patriot League first team accolades in his first full season of action after moving into a starting role early in the season. He ranked third in the Patriot League this year with 942 rushing yards, while also scoring 11 touchdowns, ranking second in the conference. In league action, he averaged 106 rushing yards per contest. Clerveaux had three 100+ yard games and four multi-touchdown games in 2024, including back-to-back two-touchdown games in wins over Bucknell and Georgetown. He was a two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week selection this year.
Petersen was also a 2024 All-Patriot League first team honoree. His six touchdown catches were tied for the most on the team, and also ranked third in the Patriot league. In total, he had 34 receptions for 502 yards, ranking second on the team and as the third-most by an FCS tight end this year. He is the first Holy Cross tight end to earn first team accolades since Alex Schneider in 2010.
The trio helped lead Holy Cross to a share of its sixth consecutive Patriot League title, extending the Crusaders' streak of the most consecutive titles in conference history.
