Women’s basketball to face No. 2 Connecticut in Storrs Tuesday night

The Holy Cross women's basketball team faces a stiff test on Tuesday, Dec. 3 when they travel to No. 2 nationally-ranked Connecticut for a 7 p.m. tip-off in Gampel Pavilion. The contest will be broadcast in the Tri-State area on SNY and via radio on the UConn Sports Network (Fox Sports 97-9).

STREAMING SNY
  • UConn's SNY games will be available to stream in-market (CT, NY, NJ, PA) to authenticated subscribers via the SNY app.
  • Out-of-market fans will be able to stream UConn's SNY games at no additional cost to authenticated subscribers who have FOX as part of their television package. Users will need to sign in with their TV provider credentials at https://www.foxsports.com/ or in the FOX Sports app. The games can also be accessed at www.fox.com/sports or in the FOX Now app.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (4-3, 0-0 PL): 
  • The Crusaders have won two of their last three games including a 57-43 win on the road at New Hampshire on Nov. 26. Junior guard Simone Foreman dropped a career-high 21 points to go with a team-best nine boards, three triples, and two steals.
  • During 2024-25, Foreman ranks third in the Patriot League in free throw percentage (91.3), third in rebounds per game (7.7), tied for third in steals per game (1.9), sixth in field goal percentage (40.7), and seventh in scoring (14.0). Per SportsReference she has fourth highest usage percentage (29.3) in the conference.
  • As a team, Holy Cross ranks 43rd in the country in free throw percentage (75.8) and 47th in three-point percentage (36.1).
  • In the first NET Rankings released by the NCAA on Monday, the Crusaders rank 150 out of 362 teams in the NCAA. Lehigh (91) and Colgate (124) are the only Patriot League teams that rank higher than Holy Cross.
  • Over the last three seasons, Holy Cross is 30-23 (.566) on the road compared to 38-12 (.760) at home in the Hart Center Arena.
SCOUTING THE NO. 2 HUSKIES (6-0, 0-0 BIG EAST): 
  • UConn has won six straight games and 19 of their last 20 matchups including a 73-60 victory over then-no. 18 ranked Ole Miss in the final of the Baha Mar Women's Championship on Nov. 27. Paige Bueckers, the Championship MVP, matched a season-high with 29 points on 11-of-17 (64.7%) shooting while Azzi Fudd posted 18 points on 72.7 percent (8-of-11) shooting in 28 minutes off the bench.
  • Bueckers was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday afternoon. She averaged 26.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in two wins while shooting 66.7 percent from the hardwood and 55.6 percent from deep last week.
  • Sarah Strong is a three-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week (11/11, 11/18, 11/25). Strong leads the team in rebounds (7.7), seals (2.8) and blocks (1.8) per game while ranking second in scoring (14.5).
  • Guard KK Arnold is the NCAA leader in assist-to-turnover ratio (9.5). She hasn't committed a turnover in four straight games. As a team, the Huskies are second in the country in fouls per game (11.5), third assist-to-turnover ratio (1.87), third in field goal percentage (51.3), fourth in assists per game (21.5), sixth in scoring defense (48.7) and eighth in turnovers per game (11.5).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross is 2-20 (.100) in the series against Connecticut which began in 1982. Both Crusader wins versus the Huskies occurred in Worcester.
  • In their last meeting on Nov. 13, 2011, the Huskies defeated the Crusaders 77-37. Holy Cross' last win against UConn, a 65-49 decision happened on Dec. 4, 1986.
