HAMPDEN, Mass. — Junior Matthew Williams and senior captain Nolan Schuermann led the Holy Cross men's golf team coming in the top 15 at the UConn Invitational held at the GreatHorse Country Club. The team finished 8th place overall with play concluding on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Williams was Holy Cross's top finisher coming in a shared sixth place after firing a 69 on day one and a 74 on day two. On the final day of play, he shot a 73 for a 216 (E) performance. Schuermann was right behind Williams finishing in a shared 11th place with a 220 (+4) final score.
After three rounds of the 54-hole course, the Crusaders finished with a score of 900 (+36) as a team.

- "Matthew Williams played extremely well, especially considering that he is coming off a knee injury," said director of golf Steve Napoli. "Kudos to Alicia Caswell who heads the Holy Cross Sports Medicine department for her work with Matt over the last month in getting Matt back into the lineup."
