WORCESTER, Mass. – The women's rowing varsity eight has been named Patriot League Boat of the Week, the league offices announced Wednesday afternoon.
The varsity eight boat, made up of seniors
Josie Ascione and
Lauren Colby; juniors
Isabella Bokan,
Ellen Anne Foy,
Kate Driscoll,
Jane Doyle, and
Jenna Roane; and freshman
Grace Rotering; paired with junior coxswain
Maddie Flynn, finished first in the 2k at the Jesuit Invitational on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday.
Facing St. Joe's, Fordham, Fairfield, and Patriot League opponent Loyola (Md.), the varsity eight finished second in the 1900m time trial, earning themselves a spot in the 2k Grand Final with St. Joe's and Fordham. In the Final, the varsity eight finished with a time of 6:51.1, just under four seconds ahead of second-place St. Joe's, and just over 15 seconds ahead of third-place Fordham.
Women's rowing will be back in action on Sunday, April 2, when it faces Fairfield, Marist, and Manhattan in Teaneck, N.J.
