WEST POINT, N.Y. — Junior
William Kelleher posted victories in both singles and doubles play, but the Holy Cross men's tennis team was edged by Loyola (Md.) 4-3 at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center. The Crusaders fall to 4-7 on the season, while the Greyhounds improve to 5-8 overall.
Holy Cross opened the day by claiming the doubles points with a pair of victories. Kelleher and junior
Connor Nelson downed Matt Cardano and Oliver Davey 6-4 at the No. 2 spot, while freshman
Alessandro Bizzarri and freshman
Patrick Ling defeated Trevor Girandola and Dylan Koziol 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, Kelleher earned a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Koziol at No. 4, and freshman
Camilo Illanes downed Nick Haggar 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6. But Loyola was able to win the remaining four singles matches, including a pair of three-set victories.
Holy Cross returns to action on Sunday, March 26, when it remains in West Point, N.Y., to face Lafayette at 9 a.m.
