PETERBOROUGH, N.H. — Three players picked up wins in both singles and doubles action, as the Holy Cross men's tennis team posted a 4-3 victory over Franklin Pierce at the Monadnock Indoor Tennis Club. The Crusaders improve to 3-4 on the season with the win, while the Ravens fall to 3-5 overall.
Holy Cross began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Sophomore
Jeremy Clark and senior
Declan O'Flynn led the way at the No. 1 spot with a 7-5 victory over Joshua Arnold and Preston Gordon. Junior
William Kelleher and junior
Connor Nelson added a 7-6 (7-4) win over Paul McLellan and Alejandro Ortiz at No. 2, while freshman
Alessandro Bizzarri and freshman
Patrick Ling topped Orlando Guerrero and Nkrumah Patrick 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, the Crusaders won matches at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots to pick up the overall match victory. Kelleher came from behind to defeat Arnold in three sets (2-6, 6-1, 6-4) at No. 4, while Ling downed McLellan 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5, and Bizzarri defeated Ethan Hall 7-5, 7-5 at No. 6.
Holy Cross is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 18, when it will play host to Colgate at 12 p.m.
