WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's basketball freshman guard
Kaitlyn Flanagan has been named the GEICO Patriot League Rookie of the Week for competition from Feb. 20-Feb.26 the league office announced Monday afternoon.
This is the first weekly honor for the Crusaders (20-8, 12-5 PL) this season.
Flanagan helped lead the Crusaders to a 2-0 record this past week by averaging 13.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 53.3% (8-of-15) from the floor, 50% (3-of-6) from deep and 88.9% (8-of-9) at the line.
Against Loyola (Md.) Flanagan handed out five assists and recorded six rebounds. At Army on Saturday, Flanagan scored a career-high 16 points shooting 66.7% (4-of-6) from the hardwood and 85.7% (6-of-7) at the charity stripe with a block and a steal.
On the season, Flanagan is averaging 7.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. Currently, she is tied for fourth in the Patriot League in assists (85) and is fourth in assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
Holy Cross will welcome 2022-23 regular season champion Boston University (22-6, 17-0) for a
Turnpike Trophy contest on Wednesday, March 1 at 7 p.m.
