The Holy Cross men's basketball team plays its final road game of the regular season when it travels to Loyola (Md.) for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The game between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross currently has a mark of 7-9 in the Patriot League and an overall record of 10-19. With two games left in the regular season, Holy Cross is tied for fifth place in the conference, just two games out of fourth place. The Crusaders lead the Patriot League in three-point field goal percentage defense (31.8 percent), while standing third in three-point field goal percentage (37.2 percent) and fourth in blocked shots (2.8 blocks per game).
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 16.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per game, in addition to hitting 47.9 percent of his field goal attempts. Freshman guard
Will Batchelder has added 12.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest, while junior guard
Joe Octave is putting up 11.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
Loyola stands 10-19 overall and 5-11 in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds are coming off a 65-53 loss at Navy on Saturday, and are currently in ninth place in the conference. Senior guard Kenneth Jones has led the team by averaging 11.2 points, 3.4 assists per game and 1.8 steals, while making 39.4 percent of his three-point attempts. Senior guard Jaylin Andrews has put up 10.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest, with freshman guard Deon Perry adding 10.2 points, 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
Following the contest with Loyola, the Crusaders will return home to face Army West Point in their regular season finale on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2:00 p.m.
