William Kelleher picked up a victory in singles action, but Holy Cross men's tennis team was defeated by Monmouth 6-1 at the Little Silver Tennis Club. The Crusaders fall to 1-3 on the season, while the Hawks improve to 3-1 overall.
Monmouth began the day by winning the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. The Hawks then took five of the six singles matches to claim the overall victory. Kelleher picked up Holy Cross' lone win at No. 4 singles, where he defeated Gabriel Busato 7-5, 1-6, (11-9).
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when they travel to Stonehill for a 12:00 p.m. match.
