The Holy Cross men's basketball team will play its second straight home game when it faces Loyola (Md.) at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8. The contest between the Crusaders and the Greyhounds will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Sunday will be Jersey Day at the Hart Center, and any fans who show up wearing their favorite jersey can purchase a ticket to the game for just $5.00.
Holy Cross enters the game with a mark of 2-1 in the Patriot League and an overall record of 5-11. The Crusaders won their first two conference games over Bucknell (60-58) and Navy (74-63), before falling to American (73-68 in overtime). Holy Cross currently leads the Patriot League in three-point field goal percentage defense (32.2 percent), while standing third in both steals (7.5 steals per game) and blocked shots (3.0 blocks per game).
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 17.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per game, in addition to connecting on 51.4 percent of his field goal attempts. Junior guard
Bo Montgomery has added 11.9 points, 3.9 boards and 2.9 assists per contest, while junior guard
Joe Octave is putting up 10.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Loyola currently stands 5-11 overall and 0-3 in the Patriot League. The Greyhounds have fallen to Colgate (101-67), American (71-55) and Army West Point (78-55) in their first three conference games of the year. Senior guard Jaylin Andrews has led the team by averaging 11.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while making 71.1 percent of his foul shots. Senior guard Kenneth Jones has put up 10.9 points, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals per contest, with junior forward Alonso Faure adding 9.3 points and 4.7 boards per game.
Following the contest with the Greyhounds, Holy Cross will travel to Lehigh for a 7:00 p.m. game on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
