The Holy Cross women's basketball team looks to bounce back from their last loss when they play host to Patriot League opponent Army West Point Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.
Holy Cross will honor Kathleen Courtney M.D. '97, Janet Hourihan Brooks '86, Sherry Levin '84, Lauren Maney George '96 and Amy O'Brien Davagian '99 tomorrow
starting at 12:30 p.m. with a pregame reception in Blaney Gymnasium. All five honorees will have their jerseys retired during a halftime ceremony.
The Crusaders will also be debuting their throwback jerseys for the first time tomorrow.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (16-4, 8-1 PL):
- Holy Cross' eight game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday evening as they lost to Lehigh 76-74 in overtime. Junior Bronagh Power-Cassidy scored a team-high 18 points while sophomore Lindsay Berger had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
- Since returning to the starting lineup on Jan. 18, Lindsay Berger has tallied three straight double-doubles. Berger is averaging 13.7 points and 10.7 rebounds across 29.3 minutes per game. Berger is shooting 57.6% (19-of-33) from the field in those contests.
- Junior Cara McCormack was named Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday afternoon. She averaged 15.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 50% (10-of-20) from the floor and a sizzling 63.6% (7-of-11) from long range last week for the Crusaders.
- Over the last four games, Holy Cross has shot 48.4% (106-of-219) from the hardwood and 37.3% (19-of-51) from three-point land. During those contests, McCormack ranks third in scoring (12.3) while shooting, 44.7% (17-of-38), and 50.0% (11-of-22) from deep.
- Holy Cross has started the year 16-4 through 20 games for the second time in program history. The feat last happened during the 1984-85 season.
- The Crusaders are 50-17 (.746) in their last 67 games in the Hart Center.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (7-12, 5-4 PL):
- Army heads to Worcester on a three game winning streak after defeating American 63-62 Wednesday evening at home. Sabria Hunter tallied a double-double scoring a game-high 18 points and recording a contest best 14 boards in the victory.
- Hunter and freshman Reese Ericson were named the Patriot League GEICO Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday announced by the league office. Hunter averaged 16.5 points and 15.0 in a 2-0 week for the Black Knights. Ericson was awarded top rookie honors for the second time this season averaging 14.5 points in both wins last week for Army.
- This year, Army is 2-8 (.200) on the road and is 19-45 (.297) over the last six seasons away from campus.
- In the conference rankings, the Black Knights are last in the conference allowing opponents to convert 46.7% of their field goal attempts.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
- Holy Cross is 39-32 (.549) in the series history against Army West Point dating back to 1991.
- The Crusaders swept the season series last year against the Black Knights including a 73-59 win on Feb. 26 in West Point. Cara McCormack scored eight points with five rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in 28 minutes off the bench for Holy Cross.
- Holy Cross is 7-3 versus Army over their last 10 games.
- The Crusaders are 22-13 (.629) at home versus the Black Knights.
