Men's track and field secures victory over UNH

DURHAM, N.H.— The Holy Cross men's track and field team defeated New Hampshire, 90.5-76.5, in a dual meet on Sunday. 

MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Junior Chris Barone took first in the 55m dash (6.58), followed by a second place finish in the 200m dash (24.03).  
  • Freshman Nyeoti Punni finished second in the 55m dash (6.69) and second in the 200m dash. 
  • Senior Sean Flaherty claimed first in the in the 400m with a time of 51.97. He was followed by junior Matthew Conway, who finished second (53.00).
  • The Crusaders swept the 500m run with sophomore Andrew Van De Mark at the helm. He finished first with a time of 1:08.00, followed by senior Cameron Lloyd. 
  • Senior Jack Welch finished first in the 800m run with a time of 1:55.12. In the 1,000m run, senior Kyle VanDermark claimed second with a time of 2:30.68.
  • Sophomore Brian Fennelly won the 55m hurdles. He was followed by Josh Exantus who finished second. Additionally, Fennelly finished the long jump with a mark of 6.18m.
  • Junior Mike Mazzocca claimed second in the high jump with a mark of 2.00m.
  • In the pole vault, sophomore Kevin Yatsuhashi finished second with a mark of 3.05m.
NEXT UP:
  • The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 28. The team will travel to Boston, Mass. to face compete in the River Hawk Invitational at the TRACK at New Balance.
