WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross men's tennis team did not drop a set while defeating Colby-Sawyer 7-0 at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility. The Crusaders improve to 1-2 on the year, while the Chargers open the dual match portion of their season at 0-1.
Holy Cross began the day by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the doubles point. Junior
William Kelleher and junior
Connor Nelson led the way with a 6-4 win over Zsombor Homonnay and Aidan Jensen at the No. 1 spot. Freshman
Alessandro Bizzarri and senior
Declan O'Flynn added a 6-1 victory over Ashton Meuse and Peyton Meuse at No. 2, while sophomore
Jeremy Clark and sophomore
Matt Maggiacomo downed Alexander Edelmann and Brester Pierce 6-0 at No. 3.
In singles action, Nelson picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Homonnay at the No. 1 position. Clark downed Jensen 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, while O'Flynn beat Peyton Meuse 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3. Other winners for the Crusaders were Kelleher at No. 4 (6-3, 6-0 over Ashton Meuse), Bizzarri at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2 over Pierce) and freshman
Camilo Illanes at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0 over Edelmann).
Holy Cross returns to action when it takes part in the Army West Point / Marist Invitational from Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
