Holy Cross welcomes streaking Army to Hart Center Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball team will play their second game in three days when they host Army West Point Saturday afternoon at noon in the Hart Center Arena. The game will stream live on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (14-7, 8-2 PL): 
  • Holy Cross has won eight of their last 10 games including a 59-50 win, the program's 800th victory at Lafayette on Thursday night. Senior Avery LaBarbera poured in a double-double, her 13th of the season with a game-high 22 points to go with a team-best 10 rebounds and a contest-best six assists. Sophomores Cara McCormack and Bronagh Power-Cassidy set new career highs with four and three steals respectively.
  • LaBarbera is putting together a successful season and is one of the league's top players. In 10 total Patriot League games, LaBarbera paces the competition in rebounding (12.4), free-throw shooting (87.2%), and minutes per game (37.0) while ranking third in scoring (17.6), third in three-pointers per game (2.0), third in assists per game (4.5).
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS (12-8, 6-4 PL): 
  • Army travels to the heart of the commonwealth on a four-game winning streak after upending Loyola (Md.) 63-577 on Wednesday afternoon. Alisa Fallon scored 17 points and snared eight rebounds while Kamryn Hall came off the bench and scored 18 points to go with six rebounds in 28 minutes of play. During the four-game streak, Army has out rebounded opponents 187-148.
  • Sabria Hunter ranks third in the Patriot League in double-doubles (9) trailing the leader, Jennifer Coleman (15) of Navy and LaBarbera (13).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross holds a 37-32 advantage in the series between the two programs which began back in 1991.
  • Last season, the Crusaders took three of four games against Army including an 80-46 win, coach Maureen Magarity's first win as head coach at Holy Cross on January 9, 2021, in what was believed to be the first father-daughter coaching matchup in Division I history. Dave Magarity, who retired at the conclusion of last season, ended up winning the last meeting between the two programs, 60-42 with Hunter scoring 20 points in 28 minutes off the bench for Army.
