The Holy Cross men's basketball team returns home this week to play host to Colgate on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7:00 p.m. The game between the Crusaders and the Raiders will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+.
Holy Cross has won six out of its last 10 games, but was defeated by Lafayette 84-61 on Monday night. The Crusaders are tied for sixth place in the Patriot League at 7-9 and stand 9-19 overall. With two games left in the regular season, Holy Cross can still finish as high as fourth or as low as eighth in this year's final conference standings.
Senior forward
Gerrale Gates has led the team by averaging 15.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while hitting 72.2 percent of his foul shots. Freshman guard
Kyrell Luc has also been playing well, with averages of 13.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore guard
Bo Montgomery has averaged 8.7 points and 2.8 boards per game.
Colgate enters the game with an overall record of 18-11 and a 14-2 mark in the Patriot League. The Raiders are on a 10-game winning streak, and have already clinched the Patriot League regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament. Senior guard Nelly Cummings has led Colgate by averaging 14.9 points, 3.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game, while hitting 37.4 percent of his shots from three-point range. Senior guard Jack Ferguson (12.2 points per game), senior forward Tucker Richardson (11.9 points per game) and junior forward Ryan Moffatt (10.4 points per game) are also scoring in double figures.Â
After the contest with Colgate, Holy Cross will conclude the regular season with a home game against Army on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2:00 p.m.
